Why Ride Tenerife?
The Tyranny Of Verticality
Some mountain bike destinations are defined by their trails. Tenerife is defined by gravity. At the centre of the island rises Pico del Teide, a colossal stratovolcano reaching 3,715 metres above sea level. It is the highest mountain in Spain and the dominant force shaping everything around it: climate, forests, villages, trails and culture. This is not a traditional mountain range. Tenerife is a single gigantic volcano rising directly out of the Atlantic Ocean. The result is a riding experience unlike anywhere else in Europe. You can begin your day on a volcanic plateau that looks more like Mars than Earth, drop into a freezing ocean of clouds, emerge inside a prehistoric rainforest and finish on a black volcanic beach beside the Atlantic. All within a single descent. This is what we call the Tyranny of Verticality. The island compresses entire worlds into a narrow radius around a sleeping giant. No other mountain biking destination in Europe offers such radical environmental transitions. This is not simply riding. It is a journey through planetary evolution.
